Vanities are one-day or two-day work: fronts off, degreased, primed to suit the material and sprayed, with the base cabinet coated where it stands behind plastic. The cheapest moment for one is while a kitchen is already booked.
Vanity cabinet painting follows whatever kitchen the vanity was installed beside. Oak in the Clarkson and Lorne Park houses, thermofoil in the 2000s builder stock, and melamine or MDF slab in the City Centre condos, so vanity cabinet painting uses the same primer logic as the kitchen and just on a smaller scale.
Moisture Makes Bathroom Cabinet Painting Different
A vanity lives in steam. Each shower adds moisture to the room, the fronts under the sink sit close to a trap that eventually drips, and the toe kick takes splashes and mop water. Cabinet painting in a bathroom therefore leans toward the harder coatings and the higher sheens.
Satin or semi-gloss sheds water better than matte and wipes clean without holding a mark. A two-component polyurethane topcoat earns its upgrade in an ensuite used daily, since it cures hard inside roughly a day and shrugs off bathroom cleaners that would soften a single-component film.
What Cabinet Painting Cannot Fix In A Bathroom
Particleboard that has already swollen is finished. Look at the bottom of the door under the sink and at the cabinet floor beneath the trap: if the material has puffed up, gone soft or delaminated at the edge, cabinet painting will not restore it and no primer will hold on a surface that is coming apart.
A swollen sink base with sound doors is sometimes worth replacing on its own while everything else is painted. That gets flagged at the visit, priced separately, and handled the same way as a single ruined kitchen door. We would rather say it before the deposit than after the doors are off.
Bundling Vanity Cabinet Painting With The Kitchen
Almost all of our vanity work goes on with a kitchen booking, because most of the cost of any cabinet painting job is setup rather than square footage. The containment, the spray gun, the trip and the booth run are already committed, and adding two vanity doors and a drawer front to the rack costs very little.
On its own, a vanity carries its own mobilization, so it prices higher per door than the bundled version. Owners doing the main bath and the ensuite together usually find the second adds surprisingly little. It is also a low-risk way to try a colour before the whole kitchen commits to it.
Small Cabinet Painting Jobs Get The Full Process
There is a temptation to treat a vanity as a quick brush job, and that is why so many of them are peeling. A vanity gets the same treatment as a kitchen: doors tagged and removed, hardware bagged, degreasing, sanding to about 220 grit, filling, the correct primer for the material, and two or three thin sprayed coats with a scuff sand between.
Hinges are worth a look while the fronts are down. Bathroom hinges corrode faster than kitchen ones in a room that goes humid twice a day, and new hinges and handles are fitted at reinstall for a modest cost. Cure applies here too: treat the cabinet painting gently for a week and keep abrasive cleaners off it for a month.
Book Vanity Cabinet Painting Alone Or Beside A Kitchen
Phone +1 (289) 201-6018 or use the contact page and mention how many bathrooms are in the plan. The cabinet painting quote lists the kitchen and each vanity separately, so the bundle discount is visible rather than implied. Everything we work on is summarized on the home page.
Bathroom Vanity Painting Questions
How long does a vanity take?
Most bathroom vanities are finished within a day or two. Fronts come off, get degreased and primed to suit the material, and are sprayed, while the base cabinet is coated where it stands behind plastic. Adding one to a kitchen booking costs the least.
What if the vanity base has swollen?
Particleboard that has puffed up, gone soft or delaminated cannot be restored by paint, and no primer holds on it. A swollen sink base is flagged at the visit and priced separately, sometimes replaced on its own while everything else is painted.
What sheen suits a bathroom?
Satin or semi-gloss sheds water better than matte and wipes clean without holding a mark. A two-component polyurethane topcoat cures hard in about a day and shrugs off bathroom cleaners that would soften a single-component film. It earns its upgrade in an ensuite used daily.
